Stormin 9,985 #1 Posted June 7, 2013 Thought it best to start a new topic on insurance. Stigian got his 6x6 insured for £39 for a year. I've just got my 1982 C-125 insured for £51. Both by the same company. Cherished Car Insurance. 01252 713148. The difference is because they go up to 1979, then from 1980 onwards. I assume Ian's is the same cover as mine. Third Party only. Fire and theft I don't know cause I didn't ask. (Senior moment.) For extra tractors the cost increases by £12 per tractor. When the paper work comes through, I notify just what is covered. The insurance runs from March to March, Next year I should get a 15% discount.
Trouty56 567 #2 Posted June 7, 2013 Curious as to why the need for insurance?? Because of the value of the tractor?? Maybe someone might trip over it???
neil 2,410 #3 Posted June 7, 2013 Not a bad deal then Norman I wonder why Ians tractor was cheaper than yours , I guess maybe beacause it would take about twelves blokes to lift it LOL so it would be a liitle difficult to steal it .. I may just have to give them a call Thanx for the tip

meadowfield 2,754 #5 Posted June 7, 2013 I pay £45 a year per tractor fully comp with the NFU. Sounds a lot but still cheaper than my quad at £200 a year....
pmackellow 12 #6 Posted June 7, 2013 £182 for six tractors so just over £30 each for me...

I guess it's cheaper because of the year.. I971... That's the look I'm aiming for a 1971 Raider.... And parts of it are 1971.. I did tell them it's a mixture of Wheel Horse parts from many different years.. They asked for a chassis number... Just so it could be identified if stolen!!! Er... Being as there is only one on the planet it shouldn't be too hard to identify Edited June 7, 2013 by Stigian
wheeledhorseman 579 #8 Posted June 7, 2013 Good thread Norman, and BTW nice sports car! Classic vehicle insurance represents good value for money IMO. My jeeps cost about £90 each per year and that's fully comp and any driver over 25 with my permission. Ideal for shows as I can get others to drive a jeep to a show for me and even take it round the arena knowing it's insured for them to do so. My 1979 Mini costs about £120 fully comp named drivers only, there are cheaper options or even an any driver option but I'm hanging on to the policy as it covers the named drivers for 3rd party on any other vehicle provided its taxed and insured by the owner. This means I can drive other guys vehicles at shows knowing that if their policy doesn't cover me then I have one that does. There are mileage limitations of course and none of these should be your sole means of transport i.e. you need an everyday car to be on the road as well. My WHs are all insured under a policy for the land and buildings where they live and work. As NFU can't / won't extend the cover to include shows and want me to take out vintage tractor policies with them in addition to what I've already got then I'll be giving Cherished Car a call on Monday. I like the lower rate for additional tractors. Without organisers there would be no shows to go to, without exhibitors there wouldn't be much for the punters to see. We have to work together to make the whole show scene work. Andy
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #9 Posted June 7, 2013 Mine is covered under my homeowners insurance but mine aren't worth enough to insure separately.
