Charlie Smith 142 #1 Posted June 4, 2013 Hello all does anyone out there have or had or even know about the C141's kohler engine, are they any good? What's your opinions
Hodge71 665 #2 Posted June 4, 2013 Kohler's 14 is a great engine! You have nothing to worry about that engine at all. Its a hard worker. Make sure it starts and runs good, doesnt burn any oil and Youll be very happy with it.
meadowfield 2,754 #3 Posted June 4, 2013 Second that, the k321 is a good engine - my GT14 has one, still going strong after 40 years.

Tankman 3,523 #6 Posted June 5, 2013 Got to love the Kohler engines. I have four of 'em. None ever miss a beat. "Wheel Horse makes it....Kohler shakes it." No truer words ever spoken.
Earle 3 #7 Posted June 5, 2013 Tankman has it right. No Brag Just Fact !!!! This is my 2nd Wheel Horse Tractor with a Kohler......Earle
Tankman 3,523 #8 Posted June 5, 2013 Tankman has it right. No Brag Just Fact !!!! This is my 2nd Wheel Horse Tractor with a Kohler......Earle Thanks Earle! I don't care for the newer Kohler engines, particularly vertical shafts. Don't know why but, the earlier, cast, horizontal shafts, seem indestructible. Just keep on pounding!
MalMac 1,332 #9 Posted June 5, 2013 The C's with a Kohler were the bread and butter for Wheel Horse. No non-sence nothing but hard working most reliable tractor they made. That's why I have 5 of them.

Fordiesel69 271 #12 Posted June 5, 2013 Very excellent in both the automatic and 8 speed. I have (2) C-121's which are 2 HP less. 14HP is a great engine and has tons of lugging power. The only weak point is the ISO engine mounts go bad and cost more than they are worth. Brian Miller has the solid mounts avail which will help keep the belts in line especially when the PTO is enguaged. Although the C-145 has more eye candy, I have not found anything that makes them better than the C-141.
Wheelhorsedairyfarmer 13 #13 Posted June 5, 2013 I've had my c-141 8 speed for about 2 months. It's my go to machine for everything. I've done nothing more to it than some maintenance that was long neglected by the previous owner. It's a hard worker and I love it!

I will be rebuilding this after 7000 hrs of great service. Thay do not build them like this anymore. that includes honda. At 7000 hours was it a rebuild of choice, or did it have a mishap? My 310-8 Magnum has well over 2000 (hard, rough, tough, nasty, unpleasant and abusive) hours on it and is starting to seem a tad on the weak side. I Kohlers. Fordiesel69 271 #17 Posted June 5, 2013 Does your 2000 hour engine rattle at all? At 7000 hours not only would it be a smog machine, but probably sounded like a small diesel.
Wheelhorsedairyfarmer 13 #18 Posted June 6, 2013 No rattles yet. Hoping to limp it along with help from the c-141 til winter!
