Challenger 27 #1 Posted June 4, 2013 I have the opportunity to buy ONE new 52" mowing deck or ONE new 48" mowing deck. I've had 48" models. Never had a 52". Opinions on the two please. Is the 52" better or worse at cut quality, construction, etc? We have two acres with very few trees , bushes, landscaping etc. Thanks for your thoughts. (I placed this here as I'm not sure I will receive as many quick opinions in the implements section).
546cowboy 302 #2 Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) The only Wheel Horse I've had with a 52" deck was a 269H and it was noisy and didn't cut very well. It wasn't built as well as the older 48" decks. Besides that it wouldn't fit on an older Wheel Horse as they were made for the Toro with a vertical shaft engine. Edited June 6, 2013 by 546cowboy
Brownta 5 #3 Posted June 4, 2013 What type of tractor are you using? If you are using one of the newer xi's the 52" decks on those are are suppose to be very good. I've never had one from personal experience, just what I have heard on here and talking to some other people as well.

Snowmobileaddict 403 #5 Posted June 5, 2013 I have a 52" deck and I think it cuts remarkbly better than my previous simplicity. Its quiet, easy to adjust and built heavy enough for me.
