Charger 12 mule drive question

Ok, I've got a Charger 12.....had it for over 10 years now. On my daily craigslist searches for horses, I've seen 2 different mule drives. Mostly, I see them with the belt going straight down from the motor to the deck. However mine, has the tach a matic like the c's, 300's, 400's and so on, and I've seen a pic of one on here like mine as well. Was this something that people did later on to be able to put newer attachments on or did they make them 2 ways.

It may something  a PO probably did. Very easy to do. Done it myself. Much nicer.

I've been curious about it for a while now. Never had anything other than the tach a matic, now buying an older horse makes me smile!! Lawnmower junkyards here I come to buy all your tach a matics!!! HEEHEE!!!

My raider 12 runs straight down also, but i have also added the front mule drive so I can switch to other decks.
