wingrider 21 #1 Posted May 31, 2013 I recently bought a Raider 10 8 speed that has had the engine changed to 12 horse motor. My problem is there is no numbers on the motor to say what it is. How can I figure out what motor it is? I think the model number for the tractor is 10360 and the serial number is 905302. The model is a guess because the numbers are very hard to read, but the serial number is plain as day. I was just wandering if there is any noticeable difference between a 10 & 12 horse Kolher motors. Thanks for any help in this matter Wingrider
diesel cowboy 263 #2 Posted May 31, 2013 Try looking at the block just above the crank on the pto side. It might have the model number cast into it. Some of the ones I've worked on had it and some didnt. If it doesnt I think the only other way is to pull the head and measure the bore. Not sure on that maybe someone else can say for certain. The 10, 12, and 14 hp engines all used the same head gasket so its a little hard to tell otherwise without the tags. Hope this helps. Stewart
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,512 #3 Posted May 31, 2013 You are likely correct on the 1-0360 model number. The serial 905302 is very close to 905294 which is also a model 1-0360. Is your's decaled a Raider 10? In North America is was named a "10hp 8-speed" for 1973 - the no-name year. Garry
wingrider 21 #4 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) Thanks Gary The decal on the side of the tank stand it says Raider 10 8 Speed it also has on the right side of motor right above the crankshaft a stamp saying + F on my 1276 in the same location says K301 What I'm trying to figure out is this a transplant motor or did it come that way. I also found on another K301 on the aluminum bearing plate some numbers stamped on the upper left of the plate. Thanks again for your help.
