Challenger 27 #1 Posted May 29, 2013 I have a deal to sell one of my tractors to a fellow in Kansas. We have been communicating with a company called U-Sxxp to arrange transport. Here at the eleventh hour I've read some things that have me re-thinking this 1200 mile shipment via this company. Any alternative methods to ship a tractor long distance and at a reasonable price? Thanks.
Jim_M 179 #2 Posted May 29, 2013 U ship is just a broker, carriers bid for the loads and you can pick whichever carrier you want to use. I shipped a big zero turn to MN a couple of years ago, the buyer arranged the shipping through U ship and paid $350.00 to get it from northern IN to central MN. I didn't think it was a bad price and the buyer was happy so that's all that matters.
wh500special 2,277 #3 Posted May 29, 2013 I've shipped a number of things both to and from my location and have been completely satisfied. This has included wheel horses, boats, tools, and a big honkin' toro aerator. If a hauler happens to be deadheading on your route, it can be really cheap. It's just like eBay. Look at bidders' reviews before you commit. And don't finance somebody else's risk or put more than you can afford to lose in jeopardy. The risk to you, as the seller, is minimal. The buyer should pay for your tractor upfront and should pay the freight. No risk, no reward. Steve

dsholler 54 #5 Posted May 29, 2013 I also had a great experience. Had folks competing for my business, and it was a deadhead route so ended up $300 cheaper than the local moving company. I chose as shipper who also ran a landscaping biz, figuring he would understand how to keep a tractor on th trailer Was simple fast and cheap.
