All-

I ended up being the only one to bid on this tractor and won it. Can anyone confirm what model it is by the pics? The ad says 1962 and it looks like a 702 to me but not sure...

I agree, looks like a 702. Has a 62 steering wheel, 62 clutch pedal, 61 and 62 steering setup, 61 and 62 lift setup, and also the same type of starter generator belt guard my 702 has.

Looks like a really nice score!

Nice score Steve. Stealth mode too, I never saw that one. It looks to be missing the one guard on the left side, you probably have one in your treasure trove of parts though!

I thought you were done buying tractors? I saw that yesterday and almost bid on it and said to myself, what am I crazy, another one!

My max bid on this one was $250 which was the starting bid. I am gonna arrange a pick up time with the seller before the weekend.

Everything looks to be 702 except for the transmission belt cover....the 702 had the indent where the 702 sticker is placed.

I was gonna go $300 max if I did bid. Glad you got it in stead of me. Vin's right, clean it up real good and flip at the show for $500!

702 with a non original belt guard

belt guard looks to be from a lawn ranger not a 701 as it has too many sloted holes

Nice pickup there. I think Steve told you he wasn't looking anymore to get you all to stop looking. :ychain:

Spoke with seller. Nice guy. He owned it since around 1980. He has the belt guard that he said says 702, and extra carb and offered me an 8 speed tranny for a few extra dollars. He was gonna put the 8 speed in it but never did. I may head up in the morning to pick it up if I can get away for a few hours... I will keep you posted.

I was able to get pick this up today. Just got it off the truck and later tonight I will give her a bath. PO had the original drive belt cover with the 702 decal. Overall this tractor seems pretty nice and original. I will know more once I start to work on it and get it going. I plan on actually painting the rims white on this one and leaving the rest as is. It needs the left side plate and a drive belt. Anyone know the size of the drive belt for this machine? I hope to be able to pick up a nice original side cover at the show. Here are a few pics...

I was able to get it cleaned up tonight. I pulled the carb, fuel pump and fuel sediment bowl. As with any machine that has sat in a shed with gas in it for about 30 years, these parts needed to be cleaned. I soaked them for a few hours. Once the family went night night, I took the parts up in the kitchen and washed them off in the sink. You know that you have an additction when you are cleaning tractor parts in your kitchen sink on your 15th wedding anniversary..... Anyhow, here is how they sit now. Nice and clean and ready to install after work tomorrow. Hopefully she will be running tomorrow afternoon. I need to pick up a battery and drive belt (thanks for the specs Brian), hook up the key switch. PO pulled it off but it was still there in the tool tray. Found that the 2 prong key was broken off inside. I just happen to have a few NOS keys if I can manage to get the broken one out. I may even have an NOS key switch or good used one. I need to go through my parts boxes. Here is a picture of the parts cleaned up.

So.. got her running today and after a little seating of the valves it cleared up and ran great. I ended up mowing the grass. The tranny fluid was pretty bad. The shifter forks for 1st and reverse would not budge. I filled it with a degreaser and ran it around the yard to mow. I then drained the rear and filled it with fresh gear lube and low and behold the forks moved and shifts nice. No leaks anywhere. I think she will be a keeper. I will continue to tweak it here and there.

Here is a picture of my latest two finds. Funny how when you are not looking they seem to find you... lol

Looking good Steve. Did you mow the entire yard with the 702? If so, it must have taken awhile!
