groundhog47 347 #1 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Well, with all my cryin about can't find any WH down here, decided while on family reunion to go check out a listing, unknown year, unknown model, and out in the old territorial section of central OK. All I knew was had been elec start 6hp. Being a pessimistic optimist I knew what it was cept year and hoped for a dream. After drivin' roud trip of about 200 mis wasn't leaving empty handed. It's missing key, choke cable, belt guard, hood screws, steer wheel clevis pin and spring pin, mower belt guard and snap ring on spindle shaft. The engine was know dead meat and no crank, piston, or rod + various bolts. Wasn't in my dreams, but we kissed anyway, blaphew, horse spit ain't sweet, but with a lot of coaxin and a bit of tear down went to new home pulled in a covered wagon. Isn't that sposed to be the other way 'round. Really wanted a garden tractor instead of mower. Someone said I wasn't using the right kinda hey/hay, finally found a good molasses covered bale of last yrs alfalfa. Oh yes it was missing air in all tires, but guess normal for one that has sat for 20 years unmoved. Edited May 28, 2013 by groundhog47
specialwheelhorse 174 #2 Posted May 28, 2013 Well that looks like a nice one. Got hood screws and a lot of stuff for that deck New bearings etc. Checked out that engine and it's finer than frog hair. Don't spend on goodies until we get together on this. I use a gear drive deck all the time and love it !!!!!!! JIM IN TEXAS

SousaKerry 503 #4 Posted May 28, 2013 From everything I hear them old Lawn Rangers are a Lawn Tractor in name only. I'll let ya know when I get mine running but I can tell you the drive-train and engine are same as my 655 and for that matter so is the frame... The rest is just sheet metal

littleredrider 409 #8 Posted May 28, 2013 Great little tractors!!! I still have one, but had two couple years ago. they are small and can get into tight places, plus lite enough that if you get it stuck or hung up, it's easy to get out. I see you need a motor, could get a HF clone and stuff in there!! I got a 13 horse in mine....

Sparky-(Admin) 23,236 #11 Posted May 29, 2013 If your looking to beef it up I think with new hubs you can get the bigger rims on it. Good luck with it no matter what you decide. Mike..........

groundhog47 347 #16 Posted May 29, 2013 Looks like a good one Gerry... Good to see you found another horse to:) so is it going to be restored??? Don't know yet Lars, may make/try to make a higher ground clearance unit as don't think will ever find all mower parts. I'll give it a good go either way. I rem your belt guard incident and that's my first endeavor. One located here and a local may be when gets dug out of scrounge room, unknown part till see it.
