Fordiesel69 271 #2 Posted May 28, 2013 Repower with something else. Or be VERY patient for another KT17.
Jeff-C175 7,206 #4 Posted May 28, 2013 said the motor let loose this afternoon while he was mowing the ditch Probably at a steep angle... rod 'ventilated' the crankcase, didn't it?
SousaKerry 503 #5 Posted May 28, 2013 the guy i got it from said the motor let loose this afternoon while he was mowing the ditch lol. Hmmm KT-17 series 1 can't imagine why that failed Look for a series II and you'll have no problems, or put a single in it.
fourwheels0 191 #6 Posted May 28, 2013 here's the pics as promised. no hole in the block luckily. i'm not gonna keep it. i'm gonna bring it to the show to sell (if it doesn't sell locally) or trade+cash. i'm looking for a c-160 8 speed with a plow. deck has 2 holes as you can see and 2 spindles are rough. all in all it's in pretty good shape. lets see who can spot the mistake lol
Sparky-(Admin) 23,196 #7 Posted May 29, 2013 Took a bit but the hood decal on one side says Twin Eight Speed... . But its a nice straight looking ride, perfect candidate for a motor swap! Mike.............
fourwheels0 191 #8 Posted May 29, 2013 lol we have a winner!!!!!!!!!!! SPARKY. yup not sure why but 1 side says 8 speed and the other says automatic. maybe in a rush on a Friday? lol. yes it is very straight and very little rust. all the lights even work (missing 1 headlight). if it was an 8 speed i'd keep it and put a 16hp kohler in it. fourwheels0 191 #9 Posted June 1, 2013 well she's gone to a new home. she'll be re powered with a Briggs twin and put back to work.
Keith 21 #10 Posted June 1, 2013 I like the twin, but they don't show up often. In South Texas its easier to find the motor than the Wheel Horse Kohler KT17 Series II http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/grd/3822194899.html
