cheesegrader 433 #1 Posted May 27, 2013 I have a partially disassembled carb for an Onan P220. It came off a tractor that sat for years. It ran, but surges, and had grunge in the bowl. My father -the chief mechanic- started on it this winter, but passed away this spring. I finally have the urge to get back to it, but I've never done one of these before. 1) I have in it two major pieces, with the center gasket and float out, as well as the plastic cap over the adjustment screw off. I can't think of any other plastic parts, and I dont see a burning need to take it apart any further. Is this ready to soak in carb dip, or is there something else that needs to come off first? 2) I have a rebuild kit, but it has some strange parts. It has two 2" black rubber gaskets. One goes under the air cleaner assembly. Is the second just an extra? It also has a 1/2" metal washer. What is is for? Otherwise, the gaskets/float/needle valve etc. are identical to what came off. Sorry for the goofy questions, but this has already been stressful enough, and I don't want to do something stupid. Thanks
