I Need a Carb Rebuilder

Recommended Posts

Wheel-N-It

Hey Guys, I need to find someone who can rebuild the carb on a M14 Kohler. It needs to have the throttle shaft rebushed. I remember reading on the Forum where someone here rebuilds carbs including all the bushings, etc. Who can do this?

Or I would be willing to buy a carb if someone has one for sale. Just PM me. Thank you.

Van

They are not hard to do yourself, That being said , I have an old timer rebuild my carbs. I have to wait a while to get them back but you don't have to adjust a thing. Bolt on and go.

Thanks Mike, but I think its going to require some machine work to get a new bushing to seat in the carb body. I'm on the phone now with Jay-n-NC trying to figure out what options I have. I just bought a 1987 414-8 this week. I have not posted about it yet but other than the carb, the tractor is really nice. I Bought it from the original owners Wife and Son. I got all the original paperwork with it, plus a nice Brinly rear scrape blade. It also has a 42" SD mowing deck that is in great shape.

I do all my own...carbs are simple. What better way to learn and save money?

Thank you Joel but time is my biggest problem right now. I am much better off contracting it out to someone who knows what they are doing. I have so many other things on my plate right now that are taking up almost every minute of my day and evening. Right now I just want to get a proper carb on the engine and check that off my list.

Did you go to Brian Miller's web site and read about throttle  bushings? I haven't seen a kohler carb yet that has to be machined to put the top bushing in. I just had a M14 done awhile ago. I didn't notice that the top of the carb didn't have the recess for the bushing.

OK Mike, sounds good. Thank you for telling me how you have not seen a carb body so worn out that it need to be machined. That makes me feel better about being able to save this carb. I checked out Brian Miller's site to get more familiar doing this myself. I have to go over to Jay-n-NC's house later today. I think I will take the carb with me to get a 2nd opinion. I'll post more about it when I get home this evening. In the mean time if you or anyone else has another good idea, please put it up here for me. Thank you.
