Hodge71 665 #2 Posted May 20, 2013 Carlisle has been making some models in China for years now. Its very frustrating that the Turf Savers have half of the tread depth of the originals also. They've gotten very cheap. The only decent tire they make now is the Turfmaster. Decent tread depth and not a bad tire...for China....
welderman85 53 #3 Posted May 20, 2013 Thats what I noticed it on. A set of theft savers for my gt1142 I though they seemed cheaper
546cowboy 302 #4 Posted May 20, 2013 I didn't know that and that really bums me out. I don't know why it should though (Tecumseh's suck ) as I now have three tractors with Chinese knock-offs. The part about less tread does though. Just have to look around and find tires made in the USA. Wish there was a US manufacturer the made these engines though. There are none that can compare price wise though when you can get one of these new for anywhere from $100 (6.5 hp.) to $374 (16 hp.). It does take some modification to get them in there though. Which means I can get an engine cheaper than I can get tires for a tractor.
