looking at a 311-5 that stalls after 20 minutes

A neighbor has a 211-5 that he will sell for $250.  It runs, and looks to be in ok shape. 1175 hrs  The deck is rusted trough on the top and will need to be replaced.  He thinks it is 48" side discharge.  Is this thing worth salvaging?  I think the issue is with the carb, or the fuel filter, as he is not mechanical at all.  But the deck has me worried.  Are they easy to find?  Is this tractor worth the effort?  It shifts very oddly, but things look like they just need to me given some adjustment.  I don't need a project, but love my 520xi and it need some company..  all thoughts are appreciated!  Mark

It might be saveable. But Its not worth much. From the condition you are saying it is in, I wouldn't spend anymore than 100, don't know if I'd even want to go that

Not really worth too much, especially without a deck since it is basically a lawn mower. I believe they only came with a 32" or 36" deck.

Thanks for the input.. I passed on the machine.. I think even if it was free, it would take some $ for the deck..  I could probably fix the carb issue, but am not a welder..  Thanks for helping me decide!  M
