StWeiler 6 #1 Posted May 17, 2013 My 518H has a leaking axle. I tried searching for threads related to the process to repair, but am coming up empty. I can't imagine it being too terribly difficult, but would love to read or hear about the steps involved. Also, our last remaining original WH dealer (Krumm Sales) has closed permanently. So I'll need to find a good source for parts online. Who would ya'll recommend?
leeave96 490 #2 Posted May 17, 2013 Seals are easily found. Sometime I get parts from parts tree, but I should think that any Toro dealer could get them for you. For some reason, I'm thinking the later tractors used two seals - back to back. Removing the seal is pretty simple. Remove the hub and (what I used) use a sheet metal screw - screwed into the seal, give it a yank with a pair of pliers and it's out. The hub on my tractor was loose enough all the way to the transaxle that (if I recall correctly) I used it to tap in the new seals. Good luck! Bill
