thehorse 221 #1 Posted May 14, 2013 Hi all. It seems that these don't get a lot of replies but would appreciate some replies. The 416-8 that I have been posting on as I have "restored as a worker" is now done. I paid 375 for the tractor, have another 400 in the deck as well as about 300 in odds and ends. About 1100 in all. It took me about 60 hrs to complete but I'm not figuring that in. Here is the catch, I really want my brother to have it. Hate to see him on a beat to death craftsman. Everyone should get to love a horse. I was wondering what is a fair price for the tractor. What might you pay if you were looking for one. I honestly would never sell it to anyone but him. It's like a unruly child I have raised into being a hard working, good looking, brute! I miss it so much already and I just took it for a spinn around the yard. Thank you Ps... He hauls my tractors for me so I will deeply discount it. http://s737.photobucket.com/user/LenHaduck/media/image-30.jpg.html http://s737.photobucket.com/user/LenHaduck/media/image-31.jpg.html
djohn24 10 #2 Posted May 14, 2013 Hello thehorse, I'll throw my 2 cents in there. Based on what I see...$800 -$900. My question is, how many hours on tractor? Engine strong or rebuilt? If it's rebuilt, I would go higher then the 8-9 i mentioned.
thehorse 221 #3 Posted May 14, 2013 Not rebuilt that I know of but it is strong.dont know the hrs because the hr. meter is missing. Was missing at purchase. Even if it slows up several years down the line...any idea on cost of a rebuild? Also comes with plow that has custom stainless blade. Someone sure did an awesome job with it. TheReDStAnG 4 #4 Posted May 14, 2013 Nice looking worker. In my area, knowing what was done (new seat, good looking deck, stainless plow, paint touched up, new deck belt), I might pay around $800 for that particular tractor, maybe more if it had low hours. I wouldn't consider tractors an investment, and most never get back what they put into them for that simple fact.
djohn24 10 #6 Posted May 14, 2013 Agreed, tractors aren't an investment! Cost of a rebuild? Looks like a kohler on there...i wouldn't know. I can tell you if it was a Onan...your talking much more. A complete rebuild kit is going for $ 1,200 or more and thats not including machine shop work. I am rebuilding a p216 and i have $ 200 in cylinders being honed and valves redone. Crank hasn't been done yet.
Forest Road 594 #7 Posted May 14, 2013 $800 with a deck is reasonable.
WH nut 553 #8 Posted May 14, 2013 I know I try to stay under the 500 range, you win some and you loose some but thats my range
