wheelhorsin1974 6 #1 Posted May 13, 2013 What hours can i expect from my kohler 14 command with regular maint? Just curious. I realize things happen but just on normal use conditions.
leeave96 490 #2 Posted May 13, 2013 I'd say at least 2000 hours with a Kohler command engine. Good luck, Bill
Forest Road 594 #3 Posted May 13, 2013 I'll second that. I've seen command twins go 3000+

Kevbo 81 #5 Posted May 14, 2013 2000 hours+ (I was taught this from an earlier post the other week!) Check oil often and use a quality straight 30W. I recommend Brad Penn: http://www.penngrade1.com/Products/High-Performance/SAE-30.aspx
Tankman 3,523 #6 Posted May 14, 2013 2000 hours+ (I was taught this from an earlier post the other week!) Check oil often and use a quality straight 30W. I recommend Brad Penn: http://www.penngrade1.com/Products/High-Performance/SAE-30.aspx 4-years at Camp Lejeune, USMC Motor Pool. We used 30W, straight, for all the vehicles. Of course, that was the early 60's. I'm still using straight 30W for the Herd. The Herd is bedded down in my barn. These old Stallions like to be cozy in their old age. wheelhorsin1974 6 #7 Posted May 14, 2013 Ok. Sounds good. I love my tractor. My wife and kids dont understand when i just ride it around the yard randomly. I see another purchase in the future.
leeave96 490 #8 Posted May 14, 2013 None of my business, but I don't think you want to use straight 30wt oil in a Command. They have hydraulic lifters and I am to understand that due to this, mufti-visicoity oil is recommended. Double check your manual.
BOWTIE 226 #9 Posted May 14, 2013 I WOULD USE 10W30. THAT IS A OVERHEAD VALVE ENGINE WITH A OIL PUMP,OIL FILTER AND HYDRAULIC LIFTERS. I HAVE ONE AND OIL DOESN'T GET DIRTY EVEN AT 50 HOURS. JUST REMEMBER TO CHANGE IT EVERY 50 HOURS WITH FILTER. IT IS A COMMON OIL FILTER. BOWTIE

Wheelhorsedairyfarmer 13 #11 Posted May 30, 2013 Have an 88 310-8 with a Kohler Magnum 10........It has well over 2,500 hard, rough, filthy and abusive hours on it. Still runs fairly good, however this winter the engine is going in for a complete overhaul. They're beasts.
