Fordiesel69 271 #51 Posted May 20, 2013 Long overdue for a video. Wanted to make sure it was running good. There is a rough part (richness) of the throttle transitioning from idle to high, and I have not found any dirt in the carb. I rechecked. So I hope when I buy the air filter housing + new filter that I can adjust that out. Fingers crossed. I let it break in at half throttle for 20 minutes, changed the oil, then threw a 42" SD deck on and really worked it hard for 3 hrs. I did not have an air filter so I could only go in the heavy grass and thankfully it was still a touch wet. I also set the points to .017 to reduce the good old kohler rattle as I did NOT change out the side crank bearings. I have also changed the oil like 4 times hoping at one point it will stop coming out metallic. For some reason a fresh honed kohler shreds iron faster than anything. The blow by has reduced, and thankfully it never burned any oil. Sometimes they will for a bit until the rings seat in. I just wonder how many hours until the blow by goes away for good? Enjoy!!! The rattle is the hood.
