608KEB 796 #1 Posted May 10, 2013 I was mowing the yard and my B-100 wouldn't run unless it was at idle. I limped it into the garage and it quit. I haven't tried to restart it yet. I put a carburetor kit, spark plug and fuel filter on about a month ago. I'm looking for suggestions to get it going again.
B-100 Dan 7 #2 Posted May 11, 2013 I would guess a fuel filter, but you say you changed that. Check the flow of fuel, by removing the fuel line from carb and roll engine over. It could be a pluged fuel line or,maybe a bad fuel pump. you could make a make shift temporary fuel tank, sit it on the hood so it will gravity feed the carborater, see how it runs then. If you need something to use, use a winshield waser tank. How is the air cleaner? Have you run it since rebuilding the carb? Did it run OK then? Finally (from expierence) make sure ther is gas in the tank... Good luck.
608KEB 796 #3 Posted May 11, 2013 I replaced the air filter a month ago too.
608KEB 796 #4 Posted May 11, 2013 Yes, I've ran it. I mowed the yard last week and it ran great. I'll try your suggestions. Thanks. KB p.s. there is gas in the tank
rmaynard 16,354 #5 Posted May 11, 2013 Try to start it again. If it runs normally, use it until it dies again. Then open the gas cap and see if it works correctly. The plastic caps on the B-100 and others that use that plastic tank, are notorious for having the vent hole get plugged. Usually the engine will just die, then after sitting for a while, the air slowly seeps back into the tank and it runs again.
608KEB 796 #6 Posted May 11, 2013 O.k. I'll check the fuel cap out. I also replaced the fuel lines a month ago. O.k. I'll check the fuel cap out. I also replaced the fuel lines a month ago.
608KEB 796 #7 Posted May 11, 2013 It started right up and ran wide open. I ran it for about 30-45 seconds. I'll try it tomorrow morning.
WH nut 553 #8 Posted May 11, 2013 If you are sure the fuel is all good, try removing the muffler
608KEB 796 #9 Posted May 11, 2013 I started it this morning and its been running for 5 minutes wide open. I guess i'll wait til I mow the yard next time. Hopefully it won't die.
608KEB 796 #10 Posted May 18, 2013 I mowed the lawn today and I had no issues with the B-100. I took the vent apart on the gas cap. it looked clean. B-100 Bob I think you were right!KB
