dsholler 54 #1 Posted May 9, 2013 Well, I enjoy reading all the entries on this site, and admit to chuckling along with the many stories of moments of inattention that resulted in boneheaded maneuvers... However, there was always that secret glee when reading such things... the "glad I have never done that" voice in the back of my head.... Fast forward to today, when I get out of the car and manage to dump the change in my pocket onto the floor of the garage.. As I am on my hands and knees picking it up, I happen to glance into the mower deck on my tractor (looking at it from the discharge chute end.. ) and note to my chagrin that the sails on the blades are pointed downward....
groundhog47 347 #2 Posted May 9, 2013 That mower was meant to cut up, ha. Have seen several posts where that is a culprit. Heck ask any medic to point left and any mechanic to pick the left side of car 50/50. GOOD news, you caught it before someone else did. Will have to remember your technique and suggest to folks "did you check the change drop" HUH the what......send that to readers digest, they'd say HUH!!! Sparky-(Admin) 23,166 #3 Posted May 9, 2013 I think many many more mower blades have been installed upside down than has been admitted to . Mike.............
dcrage 630 #4 Posted May 10, 2013 I was amazed at how well the grass got cut with the blades on backwards!!! -- Course that probably isn't much different from the people who never sharpen a blade; just buy new ones every 5 years or so
dsholler 54 #5 Posted May 10, 2013 Well the problem is that I do sharpen them... if I had never taken them off, I would never have put them on the wrong way. My wife did mention that the grass looked a bit raggedy after I cut it...
Lane Ranger 11,397 #6 Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) I have done it before too and noticed from the same position the floor of the garage looking under the mower deck on the tractor! Edited May 10, 2013 by Lane Ranger

jay in nc 210 #8 Posted May 22, 2013 well i bought a tractor from a member & the blades were on upside down, well when i turned them over they were backwards! turns out they were for a left side discharge deck like on my A.C. B10 , so i sharpened some old 42 in blades & it cuts great.
