518H need help verifying age

Looking at a 518H with 747 hours on her.  Likely not going to get it for a "deal" but I'm willing to pay a little more for a VERY hard to find machine (at least around these parts).

 

Can you help me determine the year?

Great, thank you.  It was owned by the local school district and used solely for snow removal for the duration of its life.  Should I buy it, I will need to source a deck for it.  Somewhat excited...have never owned an Onan before.

You asked if you should buy it. The question is, how much are they asking? It looks great. Usually schools take good care of their equipment. A deck should not be hard to find.

I own a 518H, purchased it used about 3.5 years ago with 680 Hours on it with a new 42" Rear Discharge Recycler Deck (Very expensive deck) for $700.  I really like the Onan, its very throaty and has loads of torque.   The tractor is now my mowing machine because it like the smooth power of the Onan on my hills in heavy grass.

Around here, that is more than I would pay.  Around here that would go for $450-$600 assuming the only things that come with it are in the photo. Then again it all depends on how hard they are to find in your neck of the woods, and how bad you want it.  Make sure the onan sounds good and doesn't smoke.  Also check out the trans when hot because I believe that one has the lighter duty Eaton 800 (not meant for ground engaging equipment).  Good Luck
