Indy443 30 #1 Posted May 1, 2013 Is this correct? The hesitation you see in the clutch? My brake pedal is also very sticky, as in when I press it down it stays down and I have to manually pull it back. I can feel the tractor move better after I pull the brake pedal back. I did grease the fitting next to the brake pedal, checked the spring and it is still intact. Here's what I am talking about: <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_FX8eaHt2pw?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
puddlejumper 67 #2 Posted May 1, 2013 You know I don't think I have ever braked my tractor without clutching first. But I think you may need a new drive belt or adjust clutch because I think if I would brake mine without clutching it would kill the tractor or burn off the brake band. pacer 3,177 #3 Posted May 1, 2013 This is a guess as I only have my 1054 to compare to, but based on that it looks like the brake lining is on upside down - or in this case downside up, and the rod would go in one of the 2 lower holes on the pivot arm - probably the lower one and the spring in the middle??? This pic may show enough to get an idea....
1054josh 25 #4 Posted May 1, 2013 there's a rod that runs through where the shifter goes down through that's rusted up and sticky you need to lubricate it.my 312- 8 did the same thing. That rod gets sticky. Take the shifter knobs off then the plate under them and if u move just the brake pedal back and forth you'll see the rod move that I'm talking about. And your brake pedal should fully return with out helping it otherwise your brake is rubbing/dragging all the time and you brake band and spring are on correct for your tractor. Thanks Josh, I will give that a try this afternoon. Is there a proper place to lubricate the rod or will it become very obvious to me when I take that plate off and have a look in there? brandonozz 168 #6 Posted May 1, 2013 I had a similar problem with a C-165 where the belt tensioner pulley was rubbing against the foot rest/ belt guard just in front of the right tire. When you push the clutch the tensioner pulley will pivot and was rubbing and getting stuck as the clutch was released causing me to have to pull the pedal with my toes. Look in front of your right rear tire and make sure its not rubbing. Brandon
