THE EASIEST THING IS PUT A OIL SWITCH IN IT. IT IS A COMMON 60's-70's OLD CHEVROLET 6 CYLINDER SWITCH STANDARD IGNITION NUMBER IS #PS15. IF IT STILL FLICKERS TRY A OIL FILTER WIX #51348. I HAVE A 99 314-8 GODD LUCK.

Everytime the hour meter ticks to another tenth it faintly flashes. Just noticed the timing of the two after reading another similiar post. They are both on the same circuit. Nothing to worry about it seems.

I agree, you have a bad

ground someplace and its trying to find ground through the hour meter circuit.

If you look at the wiring diagram you will see the oil switch pulls the power supply for the hour meter to ground when closed or no oil pressure. They likely did this so the hour meter does not advance if the key happens to get left on without the engine running. This hour meter supply is in series with the oil light so I suspect the impedance of the hour meter and bulb are critical to it's operation. SOI will have to comment on this.

I might understand it on a clear day.
