Fordiesel69 271 #1 Posted April 30, 2013 On the blok there are chrome studs sticking out in which the balance gears go on. The bearings look decent but there is lots of play. I had a nice set of gears that were tight, that I removed when somone wanted them out. They are also loose, and wern't on the engine they came out of. So I beleive the studs are worn. I already made up my mind they are coming out for good, but how would these be sourced or replaced just in case I ever need to do it in the future to another engine. MarkPalmer 81 #2 Posted April 30, 2013 The stub shafts are left in place any time gears are purposely removed, but if you want to remove and replace them for new balance gears they are press fit in to the block, and are removed by punching them out from the PTO end the same manner you punch the cam pin out. They are the holes at about 8:00 and 10:00 around the output shaft. Part number for 12-16 HP is 236559S. -Mark- Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
