Indy443 30 #1 Posted April 29, 2013 Hi guys, I noticed the other day that the brake pedal on my 312-8 was not returning and that the tractor was being slowed down because of this. When I reached down and pulled the pedal back you could feel the tractor free up and move easier. The pedal seems bound up on the shaft it sits on, like it needs grease or a spring needs replacing. Is there a spring that the brake pedal uses? Does it go bad? Should some grease at the pedal grease point fix that up? I bought a tube of grease and I'll get some in there this afternoon and see if that does it. Thanks for any advice. Jesse Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
rmaynard 16,342 #2 Posted April 29, 2013 I would check the brake return spring first. If it is not disconnected or broken, you may have to remove the brake pedal to properly clean and lubricate it and the shaft that it mounts onto. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

dsholler 54 #4 Posted April 29, 2013 Someone on this forum told me they had drilled and tapped the little oil hole, and put in a grease zerk.. I just dribble some oil in there every once and a while, or if I hear it squeaking and so far it seems fine. The springs do break.. I had one go on me, and just tossed a stock one from the hardware store on there... it is not quite as good as the OEM spring but it works. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
