Do I Sell my "NEW" tractor?

Recommended Posts

Challenger

I like 5xi tractors.  Between home and work we have more than one.  A few years ago I purchased a brand new one and tucked it away figuring I'd never find another new one.

We are moving, in a year, to a smaller home.  Our "daily driver" 5xi's are of course going strong and have many years to go.      So, my question:

Should I sell the NEW 5xi and recover almost all of my purchase price OR keep the machine mothballed for a rainy day?  (I've got a buyer already knocking on my door).

Yesterday's post in the OTHER BRANDS section about the "Rolls Royce" of garden tractors got me thinking and stressing about this.  If I sell the new 5xi and eventually need a replacement tractor I can always buy a good green or orange machine I guess -- but at an extraordinary price compared to what the 5xi cost.

Your thoughts?

If you have a buyer and can get almost all your money back, I'd strike that deal and get it done and quick! With todays economy not a lot of people have that much money or are willing  to pay that much for something to mow their lawn or plow the driveway.

Just my $.02

I'd keep it.  Give yourself a reward down the road and break it out.  I know a guy that has a NOS Lawnboy mower and he says when he retires, he's going to start using it.  The guy probably has another 20 years to go.  Can you imagine how the mower landscape will have changed (not for the better) by then.  Kind of wish I had a NOS mower or tractor to break out when I retire - for the enjoyment of it and to show everyone how a great machine use to be made.

Good luck,

Bill

Only you know what you should do in this situation.

Some thoughts have been thrown out to you, so you will have to make up your mind as to what is best for you, then live with it!

You will never be able to buy another new mower like that again. Take your chances when you want to find another one thats not ragged out. . It's not eating anything. It's payed for. You like them alot. Think on that.
