AMC RULES 36,957 #2 Posted April 29, 2013 Have you checked the fluid level Steve?
RSB759 1 #3 Posted April 29, 2013 The deck has a fluid level? where?
Sparky-(Admin) 19,673 #4 Posted April 29, 2013 Check the fluid level in the tranny as the hydraulics to lift and lower the deck are common with the tranny fluid. Have you looked under the machine to be sure all the lift arms are "hooked up" so to speak. Have you had the deck off recently? Mike..............
WH nut 553 #5 Posted April 29, 2013 Also check the chain from the rock shaft to lift arm
Tankman 3,515 #6 Posted April 29, 2013 Also check the chain from the rock shaft to lift arm Not to add to the subject but, let me ask anyway. I don't have the lift chain ass'y on my '90 520-8. Instead, a rod lift. My 400's have the chain and trunnion ass'y. Looking at diagrams the 520-8 shows the chain lift and trunnion. I don't know the past history of the 520-8 but, works great. I'm thinking of changing the rod (lift) to the chain ass'y. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just changed from the rod to the chain and trunnion (Partstree delivered today). Raining outdoors, will have to check various height adjustments when the rain quits. Tankman 3,515 #10 Posted April 29, 2013 The trunions on my 400's were 3/8-16 threaded, which I did drill out to clearance holes. The new trunion received today (P/N 6739)is not threaded, clearance for 3/8 rod. The 400's trunions were neglected, easy enough to remove but once out, lot of PB Blaster and elbow grease to remove the threaded eye bolts. I cleaned the threads and used SS locking nuts along with my trusty Never-Seez® (a pint lasts forever).
