10 cu ft Dump Cart - some help / information needed

Recommended Posts

wheeledhorseman

Just added a dump cart to my collection today. They're rare as rocking horse poop over here in the UK so I had to pay rather a lot for it. Its in fair condition (rotted through in a few palces) so quite a lot of work to bring it back good again.

You'll notice that the PO has modified the draw bar presumably having lost the original parts so I need a little help here as I've got to fab a new clevis bracket (part 22)

I need to know what thickness of flat bar was used on these and how much offset i.e. the gap between this bracket and the main drawbar rail.

The other puzzle to me is that only one bolt is shown - should there be a second bolt in the adjacent hole?

Thanks in advance.

I'd say yes Andy, the agri fab trailers are the same method with two bolts.

Nice trailer.  The hitch on my Agri-Fab trailer is 1/4 inch thick and 1 1/2 inches wide.  The overall lenght is 7 3/4 inches and the offset is 2 inches up, and from where the bend is to where the hitch pin goes is 3 1/2 inches.  Hope this helps.        Stewart

Thanks for the photos Craig - I should be able to work from all you've given me there.

Also it's interesting to see that the later Toro - Wheel Horse trailer has an end panel that's bolted on rather than welded.

I see you have some nice pic's to work from.  Mine is 2" wide, 5/16" thick, and 7 1/2" long.  Good luck, should be real easy to build.

Thanks for taking the trouble to measure yours it's much appreciated. There's a lot of work to do on this trailer as it has rotted away in places but I think it's going to be well worth doing.

I've had to take the original wheels off for now so I can move it about - not only have the tires perished but the steel rims have rotted through! Oh well, always up for a challenge :)

The fat tires look better anyway.

Is that a 10 cubic foot or 18 cubic foot model? Looks bigger than a 10.

The 2nd and 3rd manuals include the 18 cubic foot model.

You've got me wondering now Garry but I'm pretty sure it's an illusion that it looks big as it's close the the camera. My fault for trying to be clever as I wanted the cart to be the main subject in the photo.
