Wheelhorse84 87 #1 Posted April 23, 2013 So I am tossing around the idea of selling my entire collection as 1 and I wanted to get an idea from you guys on what a fair price for everthing would be. I live in Mass. My first piece is a complete original 1975 C-160 with an almost new low hour replacement Kohler K-341 with brand new ags on the rear and brand new front rims and tires. She's an original beauty. My second is a really really great shape 1995 416-8 onan. This tractor only has 375 hours on it is has a few blemishes but almost perfect shape. I have 2 complete mower power flo units, tubes, and baggers and 42 inch decks in great shape yes 2 complete set ups with decks. I have a 42 inch dozer blade with the 5 and 3 hole adjuster, a 42 inch newer single stage snow blower set up and a 36 inch rear discharge deck in pretty good shape. I have 2 sets of original cast iron wheelhorse rear weights and 2 sets of original front cast iron weights. I have a set of plastic rear weights and a rusty set of the newer style chrome hubcaps. I have 3 sets of tire chains from 7.50 to 9.50 sizes. I have think 4 mule drives and 3 or 4 rear plow brackets. I also have misc stuff like carbs for the K-341 head light bucket and lense and other small things. I also have a two piece cushion seat for the mid 70's tractors. I really dont want to piece out the collection so I was wondering if and the big question is if I was to sell what a fair price for coth parties would be. puddlejumper 67 #2 Posted April 23, 2013 Im not sure on any of it except I am pretty sure you would be much better off splitting it up. Thats a pocket full of money for most people to part with all at once.If you dont split it up its almost a sure thing the next guy will. So you might as well reap as much as you can. Besides that you get to meet and BS with more people that way.
squonk 43,899 #3 Posted April 23, 2013 I agree 100% I've seen a lot of people trying to sell collections all at once most end up splitting things up.
MalMac 1,332 #4 Posted April 23, 2013 With the way money being so tight for a lot of people now days I really don't see anyone coughing up a big chunk all at once. I am not saying it won't happen but you be better off parting it. Even at that you will most likely take a beating.
VinsRJ 723 #5 Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) Overall I think you would be surpised at the overall benefit to seperating the collection... It may be extra work but it the long run you may find out that on a per tractor basis you will command more money individually thany as a package. varosd 1,185 #6 Posted April 23, 2013 Split it up and reap the benefits! as stated above, more headaches but better dollars. Can we ask, Why you are looking to sell everything?, if it's too personal....sorry for asking
Jim_M 179 #7 Posted April 23, 2013 I'm with the rest. I've bought a few collections and split them up. Ended up with the stuff I wanted and still made a few bucks.
chevyaddict83 39 #8 Posted April 23, 2013 Splitting up would be the way to go. And you are close to me. I would set up a payment plan to buy lits of stuff Sent from my 416-
546cowboy 302 #9 Posted April 23, 2013 I tried to do that last year but I had 16 tractors not two. Plus extras up the ying yang. I even offered them to Joe's Outdoor Power and he said no but would buy my "High Horse". I also tried letting people select a package deal and that didn't work either. Two tractors is a no-brainer if you ask me. Figure on the least you will take and start it for that on an auction site. Post an add here. Post ads on CL everywhere close to you. Most of my selling is on CL and my own web site.

welderman85 53 #11 Posted April 24, 2013 i would say split it up i think you would make more money allthough selling all at once and being done would be alot less of a pain in the butt.

Wheelhorse84 87 #13 Posted April 24, 2013 Believe it or not guys my wife said she has to pull a trump card and not allow me to sell anything. She knows how miserable I'll be and how I will just go out and start to find more tractors and stuff to buy. I can't believe she actually said this to me. Good wife

My Wife fusses at me when I drag home a tractor, but has said she really doesn't like it when I part with one. Go figure. My plan (and my Brother's) is to keep everything, no matter how large the collection (with a few exceptions now and then) and let the beneficiaries of the estate figure out what to do with it all... stevebo-(Moderator) 8,539 #15 Posted April 24, 2013 What has already been said... Split it up. If you sell as a package you MAY get about 1/2 the true value since most people buying a package like that are typically doing it to part out and resell for a profit. Kevbo 81 #16 Posted April 24, 2013 Obviously in support of everyone here with the idea of splitting it all up seperately. Not only should you make more, but you will appeal to more people.

I spend lots of time in the barn messing with snowmobiles and GTs. The rest of the time im hunting for new machines to fix. my wife never says a wrong thing about it all and when she sees me rolling one out with a new coat of paint she congradulates me. When im down because I cant find a solution she tries to cheer me up about how good its gonna looke even if I have to wait or spend a little more. Shes always telling me that she admires what I do and that even if I dont think I did a good job shes proud of me.Im telling ye I might have the best wife that could be found in the country. Cheers to the good wives that put up with our junk pilling up in the yard and are satisfied just to see us happy. We all know the sacrifices they make sometimes to let us go about our toys. A heartfelt thank you

Good wife II've seen pics of your tractors, they are nice. Your wife knows you better than anyone, if she says you are only going to be miserable if you sell them then you had better keep them. The condition that your tractors are in would be pretty hard to replace. I learned that lesson.

I sold me Bolens 1886-01 last year and I am still not over it. I just know it will be extremely hard to get anything like it again. And it feels like I lost someone instead of a simple GT
