malvin 0 #1 Posted April 21, 2013 Hi Guys, Im just wondering does anyone know, or have any technical diagrams, showing the diameter of the output shaft on a HH80 110123E? I am having a lot of problems with the carb too, and to be honest I would like to replace this - Are there any replacements I can get rather than reparing this? It funs fine for a while then dies, but this engine has some SERIOUS power!! Thanks Mal
WH nut 553 #2 Posted April 21, 2013 Im only guessing but I would say 1 inch. A nice replacement would be a Kohler 8hp. You would have to do a little rewire job.
malvin 0 #3 Posted April 21, 2013 Thanks Does the shaft have a notch or tooth in it? Currently I have no wiring setup - the mower was in a bad state when I got it so only just starting from a battery until I can work out what is/isnt working... Ideally I would like a recoil start. As for mounting, would you expect all 8/10hp mowers to have similar mounting holes? Would a Honda GX240 have similar mounting holes? Thanks a lot
dbartlett1958 99 #4 Posted April 21, 2013 Malvin, I think you were asking if there are any replacement carbs for this engine? Not that I know of. The Tecky carbs are very fussy and need to be totally clean. Get some carb cleaner and soak everything overnight, then clean and blow all the passages out and try again. Check the play in the throttle shaft and make sure it is not excessive and letting in lots of extra air. With any carb, CLEAN, CLEAN , AND CLEAN AGAIN. malvin 0 #5 Posted April 21, 2013 When it's been running I do see fuel coming through to the air filter.
WH nut 553 #6 Posted April 21, 2013 Thanks Does the shaft have a notch or tooth in it? Currently I have no wiring setup - the mower was in a bad state when I got it so only just starting from a battery until I can work out what is/isnt working... Ideally I would like a recoil start. As for mounting, would you expect all 8/10hp mowers to have similar mounting holes? Would a Honda GX240 have similar mounting holes? Thanks a lot If you want a recoil start find and old kohler 7hp, bolt and go. All shafts are keyed, I dont think the 10hp ot bigger have the same mounting holes. Now if you put a battery ign. motor on you could go to the manuals section and pull down a wire diagram. As faras a honda. I have no idea. Im sure you could make it work with a drill and welder lol
malvin 0 #7 Posted April 22, 2013 Hi Guys, Think im gonna give the carb a shot and see if I can repair - would anyone know of any good guides/videos? I think I need the following: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-genuine-Tecumseh-32255A-32256A-carburetor-repair-/150521290033?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230bc49d31 http://www.ebay.com/itm/bowl-drain-assembly-for-Tecumseh-27136-27136A-/130367895728?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5a8838b0 And also a new muffler as the engine is SOOO loud right now!: http://www.ebay.com/itm/250441029064?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Could you recommend any good carb cleaners? One other point is that the thread on the bowl for the large brass screw has gone - I was using PTFE tape on this... Would be good if there was a replacement or one which would work with this engine.. Thanks
Buckshot 1 15 #8 Posted April 22, 2013 The correct carb number is 631328A NLA which is a Walboro, Carb kit 32256A. The kit from Randys on E-Bay is correct. If you contact Randy, you might want to ask him about the bowl nut. , also he usually has some NOS stuff. Maybe he might have a carb. Good luck

SousaKerry 503 #10 Posted April 22, 2013 Aftermarket carbs for techy's are available on ebay, I bought one for a 6 horse that was cheaper then the rebuild kit and works fine for now. But they are made in China(or worse)
malvin 0 #11 Posted April 22, 2013 Thanks, I've had a look all over but wasnt sure if a different carb would work, or does it *HAVE* to be the exact same carb?
SousaKerry 503 #12 Posted April 22, 2013 Actually any carb with about the same horsepower and adjustable jets would probobly work. Although the bolt pattern would have to be the same or an adapter used. The big thing is how many CFM of air is the engine rated for and that the mixture is right.
