dstriker 2 #1 Posted April 20, 2013 I recently purchased a wheelhorse 416-8 with a 16 horse engine and the idle is bouncing. I changed all fuel lines as well as filter and plugs. Need some help as to what maybe causing the problem
rmaynard 14,949 #2 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) What year is the 416-8? Does it have an Onan or Kohler engine. Sounds like a dirty or improperly adjusted carburetor. I just noticed that you said "plugs", so that makes it an Onan. But I will still venture a guess that it has to do with carburetor adjustment, which is a common problem. dstriker 2 #3 Posted April 20, 2013 I'm guessing onan but really don't know Don't know a lot about working on these things and don't see any marking other than toro I believe it is a 98 that's what I was told
dstriker 2 #4 Posted April 20, 2013 Not getting a whole lot of gas in the filter either but when the fuel lines are unhooked seems to have good flow
Forest Road 594 #5 Posted April 20, 2013 Kohler 16 = single cylinder Onan 16 = twin cylinder
Forest Road 594 #7 Posted April 20, 2013 Depending on the filter it might be too restrictive. You need a cheap clear plastic low restriction filter. Also pull the top of the carb off and clean it out. Those Onans have to be spotless! You might be able to get away with just a cleaning and not purchasing a carb kit. Good luck.
