Spindle assemble - needle bearing orientation

Recommended Posts

ron.cieri.313

Hi all...I'm am re-assembling my spindle assemblies on my 42" 5-1011 mower deck...i have new primary and needle bearing ready to go back into the housings...my first question which I think I know the answer to but wanted confirmation before proceeding, which side is up/down on the needle bearing...I believe the marking on the needle bearing should be facing down toward the blades...the side with the markings also has more of a squared off edge which I seem to remember facing out in the old bearing I punched out....any help appreciated.

...then the order of re-assembley...my best guess is needle bearing first...then bolt housing to mower deck...then spindle shaft WITH small clip already installed...then primary bearing and the big c-clip on top...sound right?...and of course grease where needed....thanks all....ron.

I just looked at some I have that have never been apart and the flat side of the needle bearing is down.
