ergoman 0 #1 Posted April 15, 2013 Hello, first post. Great WH info here. My family and I moved to Alaska almost 2 years ago from Michigan. Getting spare parts up here for equipment is quite different! Thanks for any help. I tried to post a couple of pics but they are too large. I just purchased a 1989 518 H. Haven't had any luck finding a manual to download. I've searched this site but the link didn't accept my model #. Few questions: -Seems to run good, however the oil pressure light is flashing. Any idea's? It has around 600 hours. -I took the deck off, does the bracket over the PTO (1/2" curved bar stock) that is pinned to the shaft need to be in place if the belt is off? I paid $200 for it and plan on working on it with my daughter. It has a grass catcher bag attachment and 36" deck. thanks for any info. Ron
GlenPettit 1,717 #2 Posted April 15, 2013 You might be our first Alaskan, • The 520 H should be basically the same as your 518 H, except for the motor; there are a couple of models we have not found the manuals for yet, that may be one of them. • There are photos of your 518 H in the "Picture Gallery" (section #20). • In that same red bar, put your location in the "Member Map". gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,510 #3 Posted April 15, 2013 This is the only manual for the 518-H I have been able to find and Toro does not realize they have it. It is listed for the 516-H only. Believe some 518-H models have a manual attachment lift and a 700 Eaton hydro transmission and some have a hydraulic lift and the 1100 Eaton hydro transmission. On the curved pto bar put it back on. Other than the pto brake that is all that keeps the pto pulley on the engine crankshaft. Garry
KATO 115 #5 Posted April 15, 2013 Welcome to Only a 36 inch deck ????? awful small for that tractor I' d look for at least a 48 . Hope you and your daughter enjoy the project !!
ergoman 0 #6 Posted April 15, 2013 I thought 36" seemed very small, its basically the same width as the tractor. Thanks for the info. Is there any other reason other than low oil pressure that would cause the light to blink? I'll have to check cylinder pressure soon, any idea what it should be? Could not remember where this post was. Could not find any specs on the switch in this Onan manual other than maxium oil pressure is 20 psi. Nothing in the 523 page Demystificatuion Guide either for this switch. If you look at the wiring diagram you will see the switch grounds the light to turn it on so a short to ground between the light and the switch will also turn it on. Switch part number NN10273 and this number was also posted somewhere 309-0546 Check the wiring and make sure the switch is clean and dry around the terminal.
