tombones49 3 #1 Posted April 14, 2013 I have a 1969 WH Commando V7. In the process of restoring the tractor, I find that the hood is hingeing on a rod that certainly does not look like something Wheel Horse would do. Can someone with a Commando V7 take a really close up photo of the factory hinge rod set up? I will post again tomorow and attach a photo or two showing what I have got. tombones49
jay in nc 210 #2 Posted April 14, 2013 tombones49, these are pictures of my charger v8, my commando v8 is the same, i am pretty sure that the v7 tractors use the same cast iron front frame. Jay

tombones49 3 #4 Posted April 14, 2013 They are the same thing only different. The Charger V6 is a better setup than my V7. A whole lot stronger. After taking a couple of photos, I see where the original mounting bar must have broken on one end, then a piece of cold roll steel bar was "patch welded" in place of the lost original mounting bar end. The angle of the replacement bar was off, as well as the length of the replacement bar, so the prior owner bent the hood mounting tang to allow for the poor quality fix. Now that I have taken a close look at what is going on, I will cut the original bar entirely off then weld a properly formed new bar in place. I will post a photo of the fix prior to finishing the rest of the restoration.
