Kohler part identity

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd already posted this...  maybe I'm getting old...

I found a box of Kohler bits in my garage, easy to identify the two K-181 +0.10 pistons and matching chrome ring sets. However there are two piston rods - which are probably the matching rods with 1 41 059 04  in the casting. This doesn't show up anywhere on a search, can anyone enlighten me?

cheers

Saw on another forum where one of our members said "not uncommon for casting number to be different from part number". May not be exact quote but several sites have a different number than your casting number for that engine. Prob best way would be have a known one and compare, check wrist pin and journal dia. and length. It's about 50/50 that they match and hope they do. Yes all search was "Not found" for me also on that number, but the 41 059 04 brought up some searchers for same item!!

I was trying much the same and located the reference in connection with con rod from a Kohler K321 and from a Kohler M8.

Problem is that it's probably a casting number which doesn't define how it was machined after casting.

I've got a rod on the bench right now that comes up "no matching number". Seems this is a common problem.
