richmondred01 2,302 #1 Posted April 7, 2013 Pull the onan p220 out of the 520 today and decarbed. While was off I washed the frame down real well. But it back in ran great for 5 minutes the starter started running while engine was running. Shut it down and started again and started on run. (The switch has run and start) and it was started on run and starter kept running. Shut it down and put a new ignition switch and did the same. While it was running I disconnected the blue solinoid wire while running and no issues. Put the wire back on and starter ran. I thought maybe the water messed up one of the three relays so I pulled them to make sure they were dry. Now having issues getting the relays back in. Going to pull engine tomorrow to put the relays back. Any ideas. The blue solinoid wire is constantly hot making the starter run. What's my issue guys? WH nut 553 #2 Posted April 7, 2013 You have a starter relay on the frame behind the starter, and a solinoid on the starter. Which wire did you pull? either way the relay wire on either should be dead when the switch is in the run or off position. Time to trace it backwards. richmondred01 2,302 #4 Posted April 7, 2013 I pulled the relay on the firewall under the battery. There are three of them. Yes the blue wire on the solinoid I pull while running and all was fine so there is something keeping the blue wire hot. I traced the wire and looked at the diagrams a and came up with the relays.looks like it would be the first one on the (passages side we will call it). Any ideas? richmondred01 2,302 #5 Posted April 7, 2013 The relay is toro part 116397. Ever had one go bad?
WH nut 553 #6 Posted April 7, 2013 If its the square bosch style yes, any parts store can hook you up, about 8 bucks Looking at the diagram if its the dark blue wire you are disconnection them the relay is stuck, or its the switch The Lt blue should be hot with switch on, but the tan fron switch will only be hot in start. When the tan is energized the replay pulls in and energizes the Dark Blue. which in turn pulls in another relay to energize the Lt Blue going staight to the starter. You have 2 Bosch Style relays Relay 1 light blue hot with switch on. Relay 2, Purple hot all the time
