tibadoe 4 #1 Posted April 5, 2013 My Kohler 14hp has a very small & slow oil leak where the muffler bracket bolt screws in. Anyone else experience this? Pretty much been doing so since new. Doesn't leak enough to where you need to add oil - just enough to attract dirt through out the summer. Any ideas on an easy fix? Maybe wrap the threads with the white tape? tunahead72 2,553 #5 Posted April 6, 2013 I rigged up a short extension for my oil drain on one of my Kohler K241s many years ago, which leaked a tiny bit from the start. I used the white teflon tape for a while -- it worked, but it was tedious to pick out the torn pieces from the threads every time I changed the oil. My favorite local auto parts dealer recommended the Permatex high temp. thread sealant that Paul suggested, I've been using it ever since with very good results. You only need to use a tiny amount, they recommend applying it to 3/4 of a thread turn. The .20 oz. tube is part number 59214 (about $6), it's rated for 400 degrees Fahrenheit max.
