fisherman 39 #1 Posted March 30, 2013 Am i wrong in thinking that a Carter model N with oil filter can just simply be turned 180 degrees so it will fit in my suburban, and the only thing I have to do is get a longer hose? Also wont oil drip from it being turned upside down? Thanks for any info!
wallfish 18,219 #2 Posted March 31, 2013 The elbow will flip 180 but you will need an updraft oil bath filter. They are very difficult to find but you can modify a down draft filter into an updraft if it has the steel bowl. Some had bowls that were made of plastic. I'm still not sure if the oil bath style filter will fit into a 400 because of the solid hood stand. It may stick out to far from the engine and hit the stand. I can check on that tomorrow for you but you may be better off with the pan style paper filter setup.
fisherman 39 #3 Posted March 31, 2013 i think the paper is better n cleaner, but the oil sure looks way more authentic!
VinsRJ 723 #4 Posted March 31, 2013 Just as Wallfish indicated, a oil bath is not going to fit with the solid sheat metal hood stand. The nut roaster suburbans had a paper filter.
