Tillers and transferability.

Recommended Posts

So I just picked up a 79271 in great condition. Says it's for a 260 series. I want to know if this will fit my 417-8, and I'll need is a different pully...

Most of the models seem the same save the connection type...

Any info would be great, thanks guys!

The 1983-1985 tiller sold for the 417-8 was model 07-36TL02 and the 1986-1989 was 07-36TL03. You can view the ipls here

https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro

After a page opens click on the small printer icon at the top left of the illustration if you want to print it. There won't be much of a difference in the two.

You can also bring up the 79271 so you can compare the differences.

You have your work cut out for you.

The closest operator manual I can find is 1992 for model 07-36TL05. Will add it to the files in the forum here so watch for it on the right of the home page in the list of recent files.

So after comparing the two, the tiller is the same. The tiller DOES fit on my tractor and the pulleys are in the correct place, but what is the assembly called that sits under the engine

in the attach-o-matic space that directs the belt from the PTO to the tiller? Mule? Idler? Tiller idler? This is what I need to get tilling!

Help me out fellas!

It's called a mid mount idler assembly or do a search using "tiller pulleys". You can find a few that members have made if you want to make your own. It's also shown in the toro parts viewer link given by Garry above with the tiller model numbers . :WRS:
