Any advice to get my 83 work horse gt-1142 started?

It's great to hear you have it up and running, them briggs are hard to keep down!

Mowing your own lawn and how long it takes really depends on obstructions, flower beds, sidewalks and such.

You could have the service every other week do a though job and you cut on the odd weeks.

You might find that time mowing very relaxing and a nice getaway from a hectic week.

Congrats on the new home and the new Horse as well!!! Treat that machine right and it'll last another 20 years. Single stage snow blowers come up for sale all the time. And using one of those vs a walk behind well its easier on your back and a lot more fun. Plus with a little coaxing you can get your wife to clear the driveway;)

Onto your maintenance. Fresh oil, carb kit, new fuel line and filter, grease chassis and front wheels, how's your air filter? Is transmission leaking? Check the oil level.

It you're keeping it drain and refill the trans and check/change drive belt. Check/ change rubber boot over shifter.

Seriously these things hardly ever wear out!

Welcome to RS!

Kevin
