Lawn Ranger Snow Plow hazard

Recommended Posts

Terry M

I should have known better when I put the linkage together for my Lawn Ranger snow plow But I thought I'd share what happened.   Today while pushing some snow slush around the driveway with the Lawn Ranger  ,I lifted the snow blade and  accidently pulled  the lift lever too far back beyond the high notch and suddenly SPARKS !!!!....  The pin I used to secure the plow linkage came in contact with the 12 volt battery terminal on the ignition.  No damage but It was a pretty close call.  Now I understand why some people sheild the ignition terminals with plastic.

In the pic you can see the weld marks where the two surfaces made contact.   Sure scared me for that brief moment.......

It doesn't look like you did any damage, Terry.  Can you use a cotter pin there to give you more room?  That sorta thing will definately get your attention.

yes, I was thinking the same thing Denny.  I just used those because they were in my tool box and thought they'd work good for a quick connect/disconnect. I'll also still install some sort of plastic guard over the ignition terminals.   for now I'm thinking of putting the plow away for the season. :eusa-think:
