Tom. 70 #1 Posted March 27, 2013 Hi all, I have been offered a wheel horse B-1136 400cc, but I have never heard of them nor can I find anything on them. Does anyone know anything about them? At the minute I only have one picture of it and it only shows the decal and a bit of the engine. It looks like a briggs and stratton vertical engine. I have attached the picture, I hope it works. If anyone has any information at all it would be most appreciated. I will add any further pictures I recieve. Tom.
SousaKerry 503 #2 Posted March 27, 2013 Have never seen one marked like that but it appears to be the same as the Work Horse LT-1136 which was the evolution of the b-111. Briggs powered 11HP Came with 36" deck (1137 had 37" deck) Peerless transmission Light duty lawn tractor, had some attachments but not much good for anything but pulling a light cart and cutting the grass. Although these tractors did introduce the modern rounded hood which killed the Black Hood. Things to watch for are the PTO clutch, it is an odd ball cone setup under the motor a real pain when not working right. Frame cracks around motor mounts, and of coarse the peerless tranny is not the best and is subject to failure when overworked.

I did wonder if it was similar or a copy but renamed example of a b-111. I have been offered it for a fair price in my eyes so I doubt I will turn it down but it is handy to know about the transmissions because I was looking to adapt it to two muck around but that can be a heavy job and my C-141 would probably be more suited. I could always use it for other jobs of course! Once again thanks for the informative reply, it helped a lot! Tom. Can we get some more pictures? Hi rmaynard, Sorry at the moment I can't get any until atleast tomorrow, when I get some more I will upload them onto here so everyone can see. Tom.
wheeledhorseman 579 #5 Posted March 27, 2013 Hmm...certainly looks like it was re-badged for the european market with the reference to 400cc rather than HP. Hood certainly in keeping with the LT-1136. Look forward to seeing more photos. Andy

Macseed 1 #9 Posted July 26, 2017 The B series uses a stamped steel deck that had some tendencies to develope cracks ah were bad to wear belts. They were for small yards that were maintained and cut regurarly. The engine was a verticals as opposed to it's Big Brother the GT-1100 which was an angle iron frame with a horizontal mount Briggs engine. The GT had a 3 speed forward 1 speed reverse with a high/low setup. Thus giving you 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds with much larger rear tires. It was known as a "Garden Tractor" not just a lawn mower. The "B" series, a lawn more was a lower priced machine that was a good machine but had it's limitations. I gave my brother-in-law 2 years ago, a GT-1100 that was still running and cutting grass. It had the original mower deck and bearings, yes grease able? It was purchased new in 1985.
