Help needed with '67 Lawn Ranger fuel tank

Recommended Posts

Bill Allert

Hi, I'm a new member here and just starting to restore my L157 tractor. This has a 6HP Tecumseh with the fuel neck coming thru the hood. My tank is in real bad shape with the cap threads gone. I have 2 questions; would anybody have a tank for sale, & 2; has anybody used a stock Tecumseh tank as a replacement and is the neck long enough to fit thru the hood?? (the Toro tank seemed to have a longer filler neck than other 6HP engines). Thanks foe any help!!! Bill

:WRS:  My son has a 1967 Ranger. I can't help with the fuel tank, but can probably help with starting, charging and ignition issues! Just spent a couple weeks having it educate me! ( Check tecky h-60 spark issues on the engine thread). Kelly can probably help with a fuel tank.

The only tanks I can think of that  will work is a Ranger tank and some other tucky powered tractors like the 605, 655, 656, 606, 657 ect......, I just sold my last one a few weeks ago, some other tanks have the tall neck but it is not in the right spot to fit the hood, and  :WRS:

i think you are going to need the long filler neck , even with one on my Ranger the cap just clears the hood enough to screw the cap.

if you are handy with metal you could modify a standard tank.  i do have an extra tank , but there are a couple pinhole leaks in the bottom.
