wow21 0 #1 Posted March 23, 2013 just acquire a 520H that sat for over 10 years. Have it running but governor keeps on surging no matter where thoratle is set at. Is it a carb issue or governor problem.
varosd 1,185 #2 Posted March 23, 2013 Most likely carb issue. Onan carbs can be quite finicky even when super clean. a tractor that has been sitting for 10 yrs should have a good gas tank cleaning out, add fresh gas,new fuel filter, new fuel lines, carb cleaning etc and go from there. Any pictures?

chrisd200(inactive) 55 #5 Posted March 23, 2013 Hey bud, I would definitely say CARB!!! Onan rebuild kits are expensive, $100 + around here unless you can find aftermarket or a good deal on ebay. Try taking it apart and just cleaning it first. I have gotten lucky on a few Onans. Surged at any rpm, cleaned it out and ran great. Had a 416 and a D160 and they both turned out well. Had one or two that we had to replace the carb on as well though. Good luck!!!!!!!
Sparky-(Admin) 21,254 #6 Posted March 23, 2013 I agree, a good cleaning is what it needs and probably not a rebuild. Mike.........
JackC 617 #7 Posted March 24, 2013 What year is it? The early non emission carbs (pre spec G engines) are easier to deal with. Sometimes all it takes is to clean the ethanol deposits crap out of the bowl and fuel inlet.
