COMMANDO 800

I have my '72 Commando 800 I've picked up from Duane at the Wheel Horse show in PA swap out the 3-Speed 5085 transmission for another one off a '71 Work Horse 800 4-Speed 5080 transaxle with 7.50-12 rear tires and 16x6.50-8 front wheels . Ben :horseplay:

I think It's best to leave the Commando 800 stock it ran Good at the show and still does . I need to buy another new Clutch Spring and V-belt # 7473 . Ben :horseplay:

If it makes noise when the clutch is depressed then a spring or belt wont fix it(the noise). I bet your idler pulley bearings are shot and a new one pulley would fix the problem. I do think installing a new return spring and a new belt while your tractor is apart is a good idea as well.
