mrcubcadet 0 #1 Posted March 17, 2013 Howdy, everyone... I am missing the ignition parts on my L-107's 6 HP Tecumseh...This guy on EBay is willing to sell me the ignition parts off of this engine, and I am not quite sure whether this is all the same, or not. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230942768621&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:U
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,239 #2 Posted March 18, 2013 Just curious what parts... do you need the whole assembly of the stator, magneto with the breaker point case ?
mrcubcadet 0 #3 Posted March 18, 2013 Yes, I believe so. It's pretty much missing every part of the ignition system, minus a spark-plug!
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,239 #4 Posted March 18, 2013 The ignition assembly on your 107 lawn ranger would not have the charging coils attatched to it because its a manual start only tractor. (assuming its the original engine) The engine you are looking at on eBay appears to be a snowblower engine . and if it has the 120 volt electric start ,not 12 volt, then it should have the same ignition assembly. if the guys parting it out is there a way for him to take off the flywheel and take a pic for you? If I could see it then I could tell you if it'll work. Or maybe somebody else will chime in with more knowledge that could help you.
pfrederi 18,708 #5 Posted March 18, 2013 (edited) The part number for teh magneto on your Ebay item is 610694A The magneto number for the H60-75118F that is on my L107 is 610689A. However I would think that if you got the magneto and flywheel from the ebay motor you should have no problem putting it on your motor. Points and Condenser are the same . If you had in mind converting to electric start the ring gear on the ebay motor is for 110v starter motor and is apparently different than the ring gear used on 12volt... SousaKerry 503 #6 Posted March 18, 2013 Ring gear is the same. 120V starters have ring gear and no charging magnets. 12V have ring gear and charging magnets inside the flywheel. The biggest change to watch for is the size of the crank shaft taper. Most are 5/8 to 1/2 inch some rare ones are bigger. I found all this out the hard way. Also it seems most sellers on epay have no clue what they are selling just have spec numbers and say if it matches it fits.

The parts listing on Parts tree indicated that the magneto (flywheel) had a ring gear for 110v specifically. Does sound odd that they would use a different tooth pattern. Terry M-(Moderator) 2,239 #8 Posted March 19, 2013 I had an old H60 snowblower engine I parted and scraped a couple years ago. looked Identical in appearance to the lawnranger H60s with the exception of the air cleaner. but it had a different mag/stator set-up that looked similar to what the briggs engines have. Thats why I Told mrcubcadet to see if a pic was available. any luck on a pic mrcub..
