leeave96 490 #1 Posted March 17, 2013 I gather the black hood Wheelhorse tractors were between the earlier C series tractors and the later 300, 400 and 500 series tractors. Aside from the black hood paint scheme, what is similar and different about these tractors compared those that came before and after. What were their strengths and weaknesses? TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted March 17, 2013 The 3rd generation of C series tractors was built from 1980-84 and isn't much more than a styling change from the 2nd generation C series tractors. Part way through 1980, the automatic models received the 1100 series Eaton hydro unit and matching Uni-Drive. The upper hoodstand / dash is all one piece (aluminum) and many of them had the fragile plastic rear fender. If you aren't fond of their Transformers robot appearance (I'm not ), they can easily be converted to the previous C series style or to the 300/400 style by swapping a few parts.
