Carb Part Numbers

Recommended Posts

I was browsing eBay to kill some time and I noticed many different carb part numbers for all of the k series engines. What is the difference? What makes them different? Example for a k321 serial number 60158 it calls for carb number 47-853-36 on parts tree. Is that the only carb that will work?

In addition to different sizes (venturi & jets) and different throttle and choke lever configurations, there were also several different manufacturers over the years. (Carter, Kohler, Walbro)

There were also adjustable main jet and fixed main jet variations in the later carbs.

That being said, you're best to stick with what the book (or website) calls for - unless you know you have a compatible substitute.
