D200 PTO Yoke

Recommended Posts

Marv

The Pivot point on my yoke is loose. The L shaped "bolt" That screws into the engine cover plate is loose in the cover. I am wondering if it is advisable to drill and Heilicoil the threads in the cover. What deo you all think?

Don't see why it wouldn't work. Drill gently, and straight. One of my Ds has this tab broken off, PO rotated the cover to use one of the other 3 tabs. This could be another option.

Marv, Which ever solution you go for be sure to take some photos and post them. It's always good to expand the D series knowledgebase on the forum.

The D-200 I got recently is suffering from the same issue of a loose pivot and the first D-200 was heading towards the lug breaking off the end plate. I considered rotating the plate through 180 but wasn't certain it would line up but obviously it does so that's good to know as well.

Look forward to following what you do here.

Bewford, a photo of the rotated plate would be great to post here as well.

Little late but I finally got the PTO back together. Here is a photo of the fix. I did drill and Helicoil the mount. I was a bit concerned the coil would take too much metal off the the threaded area but I don't think it is hurt. The pivot was still a little loose in the new threads so I added the jam nut you see in the photo. It is good and tight now.

Nice job Marvin.  This is the first I have heard of anyone having that problem.  If/when it happens to me, I will hopefully remember addition to the knowledge base.

BTW, I see that your starter has a support tab connected to the engine.  Interesting.  Neither my two K482's has that.  Did you add that yourself or has it always been there?

James,

Thanks. Yes the support strap has always been there.
