Partsman Mark 1 #1 Posted March 5, 2013 The latter 520H"s had slots on the top of the hood. I was wondering if there was an overheating problems on the older 520H's or was it just cosmetics. If anyone has an idea please let me know. Thanks. Partsman Mark
jay in nc 209 #2 Posted March 5, 2013 as far as we know it is just a style thing, the 516,518 do not have them. the louvers are a great place for the crappy paint on late tractors to start peeling & then rusting! jay

sorekiwi 761 #5 Posted March 6, 2013 Some of the 300 Series had louvers as well, I think it was a cosmetics thing.
boovuc 1,090 #6 Posted March 6, 2013 Those louvers should have been placed on the belt guard and not the Hood!

Tankman 3,515 #8 Posted March 7, 2013 My '90 520-8 has louvers in the hood therefor, I don't think it was intended for hydro or heat. Someone did a heat test and reports "lower temps closest to the steering column." I guess a style at the time. Pic is a project in work. Decals to follow.
