Marv 979 #1 Posted March 5, 2013 Anybody found a source for the front wheel bearings.? I am re-doing the front end and might as well do it complete and replace the wheel bearings as well. Marv
buckrancher 2,694 #2 Posted March 5, 2013 I tried to match some up when I restored my C195 but there like the #1533 bearing you can only get them from toro and their $75.00 a pop the last time I looked Brian
Don1977 605 #3 Posted March 5, 2013 You can buy trailer hubs, wheels and new tries for less than 4 of those bearings.
wheeledhorseman 579 #4 Posted March 5, 2013 Came across the 'from Toro only issue' on these bearings 18 months ago when I was restoring a D-200. If I remember correctly, a standard bearing in terms of OD and flange size has a 5/8" internal diameter which is no good. One with the right internal diameter has a 2" OD not the 1 7/8" needed. My local bearing distributor trawled the global database and the bearings needed weren't available anywhere in the world. I bit the bullet and found a set of NOS for about half what Toro appear to be asking now but some suppliers do the OEM bearings for around the $60 mark. I could be facing this again myself as I've just taken on a second D-200. Andy
Marv 979 #5 Posted March 6, 2013 Phew! not good news. Don what would I get into to convert to those hubs and tires. Where would one get the right size to fit the D200? Marv
JamesBe1 84 #6 Posted March 6, 2013 Has anyone examined the bearing itself for manufacturer's part numbers? I have had lots of luck with that approach when replacing toro bearings.
wheeledhorseman 579 #7 Posted March 6, 2013 I tried that with my wheel bearings James as they had numbers and manufacturer on them but they didn't show up on the global database of bearings available to distributors. The reason I was given was that bearings like these are made under contract for companies like Toro and are not available on the open market. If anyone has found a direct equivalent that is available then I'm sure we'd all love to know about it. Andy
Tankman 3,523 #8 Posted March 6, 2013 Don't know if a size is available for what you need but, you might take a peek-a-boo here: http://www.mfgsupply.com/gomini/gominihubs/az2296.html Perhaps something is available. Search for your bearing size(s). More interesting "stuff" at MFG Supply too. I've been toying with the idea, "Hubs, rims, lug nuts on my Horses' front axles." OK already, cabin fever is gettin' to me.

If anyone ever finds the source of the bearings, I would love to know. I guess the only alternative is to try to find spindles that might fit, and that have a normal size bearing. Oddly, my D has a front end off of something else (probably a C series), and my spare one has a regular D front end. I was thinking about swapping them, but decided not to. rtfbg 744 #10 Posted April 4, 2014 I see its been a year since this thread was up ... but heres what I am dealing with. My bearings (D200) have the markings HEIM RF103016 ... which according to the Heim product listing, are 5/8 shaft, 1-7/8 outer, and fit fine!!!!!! The WH part number, 4999, crosses over to a 110513 LawnBoy, and Toro commercial, which sells for $11.
rtfbg 744 #11 Posted April 4, 2014 Speaking of bearings ... I made use of a tool I rarely use, my little Craftsman magnetic bowl. I filled it with parts washing juice, then wrapped elec tape around a cone grinding stone, and used it to spin the bearing pretty fast in the juice. All sorts of crap came out. I poured the juice out, and a ring of metal from the bearing was left behind. Lots of metal!! I think my bearing is junk!! lol
